The brief

Two grooms, each in the other's wedding party. Twenty guys flying in from Detroit, Dallas and Atlanta. Good golf is the one thing that is not negotiable.

Every number on this site is a 2026 published rate with a source behind it. We scored ten cities on the same seven things, then built dials so the group can see what moves when the priorities change.

The verdict

Only three plans survive twenty guys, three airports and a $1,500 ceiling.

Las Vegas midweek on the Strip. Orlando in a ChampionsGate pool home. Myrtle Beach on a condo golf package. Tampa is the closest challenger of the four new cities. Everything else either breaks the budget or breaks on flights.

What decides it more than the city

The calendar. A Tuesday or Wednesday arrival in mid May or the second to fourth week of June, avoiding Memorial Day (May 31), Father's Day (June 20) and July 1 to 6, cuts Vegas lodging nearly in half ($102 against $185 per guy per night) and saves $90 or more on airfare everywhere. That gap is bigger than the gap between any two destinations.

$1,500 is doable with a midweek block and one prepaid club night. $1,000 is not doable anywhere on this list except a stripped down Orlando house or an Atlanta guy driving to Myrtle Beach. Food and drinks are modeled at $140 a day; a bachelor group usually spends $200, which alone adds $180 to a three night trip.

Why Hawaii is out

Honolulu round trips run about $1,100 to $1,300 from Detroit and $830 to $1,200 from Atlanta and Dallas in June and July, plus 9 to 12 hours each way. That is 70 to 100 percent of a $1,500 budget before a single hotel night, round or meal.

Scorecard, equal weights

Totals out of 35. Orlando edges Scottsdale and Nashville on the tiebreak because it is cheapest and easiest to fly. Myrtle Beach keeps third over Tampa because the brief's musts are budget and golf under $200, and Myrtle Beach is the only eastern option where the Detroit guys land near $1,500 without quad rooms.

Kayak and Expedia route averages pulled October 2026. June and July medians shown where available. Spirit ceased operations in May 2026, so any average that included Spirit now skews low. Book 6 to 13 weeks out, Monday or Tuesday departures are usually cheapest, and take the first flight of the day.

Airport to lodging

  • VegasTaxi flat zones $21 to $29, UberXL similar; walk the Strip after that
  • OrlandoChampionsGate is 30 to 35 min from MCO; two 12 passenger vans or 4 to 5 rentals
  • Myrtle Beach3 to 5 minivans, rental cars effectively mandatory
  • TampaInnisbrook under 35 min from TPA; 4 to 5 SUVs or one van plus rideshare
  • ScottsdalePHX to Old Town rideshare $16 to $30; base at Talking Stick, SUVs only for golf mornings
  • NashvilleBNA to downtown $15 to $19 by Uber; downtown is walkable
  • New Orleans$36 flat taxi for two, $15 a head for three plus; no car needed
  • Austin$18 to $40 rideshare to downtown; 4 to 5 SUVs for the trip

Booking tips for twenty guys

  • Nobody needs to be on the same flight, but post one anchor arrival window so the first van or tee time works
  • Everyone books a main cabin changeable fare on his own card; travel insurance is not worth it on a domestic trip
  • Book the Detroit contingent first on single carrier routes (MYR, MSY, AUS)
  • Frontier basic fares look cheap but add $60 to $120 for a bag and a seat; compare the all in number
  • June is the most or second most expensive month on most routes; May is cheapest to fly
Dates

The calendar is worth more than the city.

Memorial Day is Monday May 31, Father's Day is Sunday June 20, and July 4 falls on a Sunday with Monday July 5 observed. A Tuesday or Wednesday arrival with a Saturday departure gets the cheapest flights, dodges the Saturday hotel premium twice, and puts golf on Thursday and Friday when tee sheets are open.

Best windows

Book
Thu May 13 to Sun May 16

After graduations, before Memorial Day. Vegas and Phoenix still under 95. Nashville and New Orleans at their most comfortable. Myrtle Beach golf still at shoulder prices.

Book
Wed May 19 to Sat May 22

Same logic, midweek start. Barefoot drops to $135 to $149 from May 17. We-Ko-Pa is $169. Crawfish still on in New Orleans.

Book
Wed June 2 to Sat June 5

Innisbrook and Streamsong at low season, New Orleans hotels at the trough, Scottsdale resorts at summer rates from May 31. Before CMA Fest.

Book
Tue June 22 to Fri June 25

Cheapest golf: Caledonia and True Blue summer rates start June 22, We-Ko-Pa drops to about $109. Hottest of the four windows.

Avoid

Avoid
May 27 to June 1

Memorial Day weekend. Saturday hotel nights run 36 percent above midweek, flights spike, lake rentals peak.

Avoid
June 9 to 14

CMA Fest in Nashville, 100,000 fans a day at the new Nissan Stadium. Rooms vanish.

Avoid
June 17 to 21

Father's Day weekend, plus any guy with kids is out.

Avoid
July 1 to 6

July 4 week and Essence Fest in New Orleans. Peak heat in Vegas and Phoenix, peak humidity in Florida. Tahoe's celebrity golf week follows July 7 to 11.

Next step on dates: get both grooms to pick two of the four green windows in order of preference, then poll the group for blackout dates against those two. Lock by early January 2027 so room blocks and tee times can go out.
Booking playbook

Everyone books his own room. One person runs the pool.

How rooms, tee times, money and transport work for a group this size when nobody wants to front twenty people's hotel bill.

Rooms

  1. Lock dates by early January 2027.
  2. Call the hotel and ask for group sales. Request a courtesy block of 10 to 12 rooms, no attrition, individual pay. That holds rooms under a group code with no deposit until a cutoff about 30 days out.
  3. Decline any contract with an attrition clause (usually 80 percent fill required) unless headcount is certain.
  4. Post the booking link, group code and cutoff in the chat. Twenty guys at two per room is 10 rooms, which clears the threshold.
  5. Tell everyone to also price the public and promo rate. In Vegas the block rate is often higher than the public rate. Everyone books the cancellable rate on his own card.
  6. Guys sort out roommates in the chat. You only book the grooms' room.

Tee times for four or five foursomes

  1. As soon as dates lock, email the head pro or group coordinator at each course for 4 or 5 consecutive tee times for 16 to 20 players.
  2. Most courses treat 12 to 16 plus as a group outing: a signed agreement and a deposit, in exchange for holds beyond the public window (usually 60 to 90 days out).
  3. Ask for the first times of the morning at 8 to 10 minute intervals, especially in Vegas, Scottsdale, Florida and Texas.
  4. Set a final headcount deadline 7 to 14 days out and bill golf per player, so non golfers do not subsidize.
  5. Myrtle Beach: skip all this and let a packager hold tee times, lodging and shuttles for a $100 deposit. Tampa: Innisbrook's 12 golfer program. Nashville: Hermitage's free outing setup.
  6. Paiute handles 13 plus as a group; Torrey Pines takes 16 plus requests beyond 90 days; Bern's group sales opens exactly 90 days out.

Money: covering the grooms

  • Each guy pays his own flight and room, so rooms never enter the pool.
  • The pool covers only both grooms' flights and rooms (at the standard double rate), group transport, golf and charter deposits, group dinners and a small slush fund.
  • Split equally among the 15 to 18 non grooms. Golf is billed per player.
  • Collect a nonrefundable $200 to $300 deposit per person the day dates lock. That funds the grooms' flights and the deposits.
  • Second call for the estimated remainder two weeks out, true up within a week after the trip.
  • Put in writing that deposits are nonrefundable after a set date so a dropout does not raise everyone else's share.
  • Track it in Splitwise (one month of Pro) or Venmo Groups, move money by Zelle or Venmo, keep a Google Sheet the chat can see. Check your Venmo and Zelle limits before collecting $5,000 plus in a week.

Transport by destination

  • VegasWalk and UberXL (seats 6, so 4 cars per move). One 20 to 28 passenger bus for golf mornings and one night out at $99 to $200 an hour.
  • OrlandoTwo 12 passenger vans, or nothing if golfing on site. Downtown bars are $50 plus each way.
  • Myrtle Beach3 to 5 minivans along Highway 17, rideshare for Broadway and the MarshWalk.
  • Tampa4 to 5 SUVs or one van plus rideshare; golf, beach and Ybor are 30 to 45 minutes apart.
  • ScottsdaleBase at Talking Stick, 2 to 3 SUVs for We-Ko-Pa mornings, a party bus for Old Town nights.
  • NashvilleWalk downtown, two minivans for Hermitage golf days.
  • New OrleansNo cars. Ubers or two minivans to Avondale for TPC.
  • Austin4 to 5 SUVs and a sober driver every night.
  • National charter averages are $120 to $150 an hour plus 15 to 20 percent gratuity.
Two things to confirm before committing. Every number here is a 2026 rate; tee sheets open 60 to 120 days out and room inventory 11 to 12 months out, so re-price the top two cities for the actual dates in early 2027 and check the Vegas convention calendar for that week. And the budget only holds at about $140 a day for food and drink.
Also considered

Four more were screened. None earned a full page.

Pinehurst is the only one that clears the budget, and it fails the party half of the brief.

Palm Springs, California

A hotter, harder to reach Scottsdale. June and July average highs are 104 and 109 with about 115 days a year over 100. Summer rooms run under $150 to $250 and summer golf cards exist (Cimarron $69, Indian Wells $99), but Detroit has no nonstop (6.5 hours and $480 via Denver or Minneapolis) and Atlanta's lone Delta nonstop averages $648. About $1,560 blended for three nights, $1,600 to $1,700 for the Detroit and Atlanta guys. Loses to Scottsdale on access and nightlife, and to Vegas on everything.

Hilton Head, South Carolina

A quieter, pricier Myrtle Beach. Harbour Town is $378 to $414 in June and July, far over the cap, and Heron Point's $195 afternoon rate is the only published number under it. Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes hide group rates behind quote forms with a 9 plus player tournament surcharge warning. The island's own nightlife page describes sunset bars and cover bands; the real night out is an hour away in Savannah. About $1,635 for three nights. Loses to Myrtle Beach on cost and nightlife.

Pinehurst and Southern Pines, North Carolina

The only alternate that clears the budget (about $1,400 for three nights, near $1,200 for the Atlanta contingent) and the best pure golf value in the country: Tobacco Road $100 to $130, Mid Pines $80 to $95 in summer, Pinehurst No. 1, 3 and 5 at $100 to $135, nonstops to RDU from all three cities. But No. 2 is $470 plus caddie and resort guests only, No. 4 is $395, the resort amenities come at Pinehurst Resort prices, and there is no nightlife to speak of. Deserves a spot on the ballot only if the group wants a golf first option.

Big Cedar Lodge and Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

Arguably the best courses of the four (Payne's Valley, Ozarks National, Buffalo Ridge) and a real lake party scene at Backwater Jack's and Shady Gators. But Big Cedar's 2026 peak card prices Payne's Valley at $425 for guests and $525 public and the two Coore and Crenshaw courses at $275 to $350, lodge rooms are $267 plus a $50 fee, Detroit has no nonstop to Springfield, Dallas's hop averages $543, and the lake is a two hour drive from the lodge. About $1,835 to $2,125 for three nights. Dropped unless the greens fee cap is lifted to $400 to $500 for one round.
