Lake Tahoe
A beautiful 8 to 12 person trip, not a 20 person one from these airports.
Detroit has no nonstop to Reno ($629 in June, 6.5 hours each way), rentals are capped at 10 people on the Nevada side and banned in residential zones on the California side, and Edgewood is $325 to $450.
Reno (Peppermill $260, GSR $160) is the cheap alternative base, an hour from the lake.
